Why Knowledge Is Power, More Importantly Powerful....Salute MIT Courseware

A few years ago I came across a sponsored post that was advertising free courses at Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) and I remember briefly going to MIT's website to check it out but I never did anything educational related beyond that action that day.

Well the subject came up again in my course reading, MIT's Courseware based on an article about open educational resources, and front and center of that dialogue was MIT, so after reading the article I decided to venture back out to MIT's Open Courseware website and I am much more impressed today than I was a few years ago (that's likely because I am actually really paying attention to the important of what they as well as other institutions of higher learning are doing).

MIT amongst other institutions of higher learning are offering up to anyone with access to technology a free education in a number of areas including science and technology, let me tell you how awesome that is not just for citizens of the United States but citizens internationally as well.  MIT has translated courses in the following languages: Chinese, Spanish, Portuguese, Persian, Turkish, and Korean. Other countries are taking immediate advantage of a phenomenal resource American citizens have right here.

I have long said in the age of technology, ignorance is a choice and a construct of laziness and lack of motivation, if people want to learn they can and I salute institutions like MIT which understand how important and powerful knowledge is and there is moral goodness in those who make it their business to serve others by making access to education easy and without the restrictions of costs, like oxygen and water I am a firm believer that education should in and of itself be free and if not free affordable.

Well done MIT, well done!
